It was another busy month. Here are the highlights from September.
I FINISHED DRAFT ONE!!!!! This one deserves to be bolded as after several years of working on it, I finished my book. There is still a ton of work to go before anyone will hold it in their hands but it sure felt good to get it done.
I started editing. It has been sureal to go back to read the words that I wrote at the beginning of my book journey. In some cases I was horrified while other times I was impressed with myself. It is going to take some work to get it ready for readers but I am generally happy with what I have read so far.
I’ve been spending some time lately thinking about book two as well as the rest of the series. I tend not to spend a lot of time in the details but spoiler alert; I introduce a few important characters from future books in book one and I need to get things just right.
It has been fun to day dream past this project. It is also fun to think about things like book covers (if anyone wants to chat, I have ideas and need an artist to put them on paper), character art and what comes next.
I’m still not sure if I will publish the book myself or try to do traditional publishing. I feel more confident doing it myself (traditional publishing scares me as I have no idea how it works) but to keep my options open I am thinking about my query and what I should include.
I also need to find a few other Beta readers. I have one but would like a couple more to give me some general feedback about the book. It seems so weird that soon people might be reading it….
I hope you all have survived September and are enjoying our fall.
