eXciting Project Updates (with a little update on the book)- September 2026
Where oh where did our summer go! It was a pretty busy summer where a fair bit of writing happened. Here are the highlights.
I set some new writing goals for my daily and weekly writing so that I can try to finish this book faster.
My current word count is just over 95,000 words (95% done). I’m hoping to be done by the time you read my next writing update.
I had an amazing one day writing retreat over the summer with my writing group. I am hoping that I can do some more writing in this format. It was so nice to have blocked time to work on the book as well as delicious snacks and friends to chat with on breaks.
I have a working title for the book: “It’s never too late to be on time”. What do you think? I’m still playing around with time puns as I feel it is necessary to do something puny in the title. I have also come up with working titles for the next four books…. Any idea what I might have picked?
I hope that this book is going to be one of four books in a series. The working title for the quartet is “The Clockwork Annals”. For those unfamiliar with the word “Annal” like I was. It is a record of historical events arranged in a yearly sequence or chronological order. Originally I had wanted to call it “The Clockwork Chronicles” but it has already been used a few times. I know there is no such thing as an original idea but I do want something that isn’t in direct competition.
I keep being surprised in my writing. As the author, you might think I know where I am going, which most of the time I mostly do, but there are always surprises along the way. The current scene I am writing is one of those examples. It is a scene I didn’t realize I needed until I started writing it. Now I think it is going to be one of my favorites. I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
The end of writing is so near. I’m starting to think about how to celebrate finishing draft one. It is certainly not the end as there is a ton of things that have to happen before you will hold the book in your hand, but none the less I do feel it is worthy of celebrating.
I’m going to be on the lookout for a few Beta readers. If you are interested in reading an early draft of the book and providing me with feedback, please let me know.
As I get closer to finishing book one, I have started to figure out the plot of book two. It is pretty exciting to have another project on the horizon soon!
